Federal Maritime Commission Reauthorization Act of 2025

This bill extends funding for the Federal Maritime Commission through 2029 and gives it more power to regulate unfair competition in ocean shipping. The commission will have stronger oversight of shipping companies that are connected to countries with non-market economies or countries being watched by U.S. trade officials. The bill also requires the commission to investigate complaints about shipping exchanges, which are online platforms that connect businesses with carriers to transport goods. It creates two new advisory committees to help the commission make policies about ocean freight shipping, and it limits when the commission can release documents from its investigations.
