Back the Blue Act of 2025

This bill creates new federal crimes for killing, attempting to kill, or attacking federal judges, federal law enforcement officers, and certain state, local, or tribal judges and public safety officers whose agencies receive federal funding. It also makes it a crime to flee to avoid being prosecuted or imprisoned for such offenses, and it covers crimes against former judges and law enforcement officers as well. The bill expands the ability of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers to carry firearms, including allowing qualified officers to carry concealed guns in school zones and certain federal buildings open to the public. It also limits how federal courts can review challenges to state court convictions for killing a public safety officer or judge, and it directs the Department of Justice to temporarily provide grants to help improve relationships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
