Red Snapper Act of 2025

This bill stops the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration from restricting fishing in the South Atlantic until a study called the South Atlantic Great Red Snapper Count is finished and included in the next official assessment of red snapper populations. The restrictions that cannot be put in place include closing fishing areas or banning bottom fishing for red snapper, grouper, porgy, and other fish managed under the South Atlantic snapper-grouper fishing plan. NOAA must wait until the study is complete and its data is used in the next stock assessment before issuing any new fishing restrictions.
