Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act of 2025

This bill renews funding through 2030 for several government programs that screen newborn babies for certain diseases and conditions. It continues and requires funding for a research program at the National Institutes of Health and for tracking efforts run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The bill also puts into law existing rules that allow federally funded researchers to study leftover blood samples from newborn screenings without following the usual rules for research on people, as long as the samples cannot be linked to specific babies.
