EATS Act of 2025

This bill would allow more college students to get SNAP food assistance benefits. Currently, students aged 18-49 are mostly blocked from getting SNAP unless they meet special requirements like working at least 20 hours a week or caring for a young child. The bill would remove this restriction so that students attending college at least half-time could get SNAP if they otherwise qualify. It also makes clear that students would count as their own households for SNAP purposes rather than being considered residents of institutions.
