Food Deserts Act

This bill creates a grant program in the Department of Agriculture to help reduce food deserts. The program gives grants to states to create revolving funds that support grocery stores in underserved communities, which are areas with limited access to affordable healthy foods and high rates of hunger, food insecurity, or poverty. States must use the money for loans to help grocery stores open or stay running in these communities, but the stores must meet certain requirements like emphasizing healthy foods, providing fresh fruits and vegetables, and charging affordable prices. States must give priority to loan applications from stores that hire local workers, provide nutrition education, buy from local farms, and have existing grocery industry connections.
