PHASE Act of 2025

The PHASE Act of 2025 directs two federal agencies to work on making roads safer for people walking and biking. The National Institute of Standards and Technology must study new technologies for traffic control devices like signals and signs to better protect pedestrians. The Department of Transportation must create a grant program to give money to cities, tribes, and towns so they can build safety improvements like better crosswalks, buffer zones, and upgraded traffic signals. The Department of Transportation must also study physical barriers and other alternatives to protect people walking and biking from traffic accidents.
