CABLE Competition Act

This bill would stop state and local governments from blocking cable TV companies from selling or transferring their operating licenses to new owners, as long as the new owner agrees to follow all the same rules and terms that the current owner follows. Local authorities could still require cable companies to give them at least 15 days' notice before completing such a sale or transfer. The law would take effect six months after being signed and would apply both to new licenses and to ones already in place at that time.
