Weather Act Reauthorization Act of 2025

This bill renews and updates several programs related to weather forecasting and research run by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through 2030. It requires NOAA to create new programs to improve radar accuracy, weather forecasting in underserved and rural areas, and coastal flood predictions, and it directs NOAA to buy weather data from private companies and test how well that data works with its systems. The bill also calls for upgrading weather communication systems using newer technology like cloud-based services, especially for hazardous weather alerts. Additionally, NOAA must support weather forecasting for farming and water management, including programs to improve rain and snow predictions in the western and central United States and a network for monitoring soil moisture.
