Peace Officer Standards and Training Agency Information Access Clarification Act

This bill allows a new type of agency, called a peace officer standards and training agency, to access criminal history records kept by the FBI. These agencies are state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory organizations that are responsible for setting rules about hiring, training, ethical conduct, and keeping law enforcement officers through processes like certification or licensing. The bill gives these agencies official authorization to look up criminal history information when carrying out their responsibilities.
