PROFIT Act of 2026

This bill reorganizes part of the Department of State that handles economic issues by creating four bureaus and two offices under it. The four bureaus would focus on trade and commercial issues, water and environmental issues, energy security, and sanctions policy, each led by an assistant secretary. The two offices would provide economic advice and help state and local governments attract foreign investment and deal with foreign influence. The reorganized office would also oversee a fund related to technology security and semiconductor supply chains.
