HEAL Act

This bill increases the amount the Department of Veterans Affairs pays veterans for driving to VA facilities for things like medical care, treatment, counseling, or vocational rehabilitation. The reimbursement rate would go up from 41.5 cents per mile to 70 cents per mile. The bill also removes the requirement that veterans pay a deductible when traveling for examination, treatment, or care. Additionally, veterans service organizations and agencies that provide rides to veterans for medical purposes would be able to receive the same travel reimbursement that veterans themselves get.
