What this bill does
AI plain-language summaryThis bill puts new penalties on Russia, including blocking the visas and property of certain Russian leaders and military officials. It also raises tariffs up to 100% on goods from countries that are among the top five buyers of Russian oil or natural gas if they keep buying after the bill becomes law. The bill bans exporting U.S. energy products to Russia, stops Americans from making new investments in Russia or buying Russian government debt, and blocks Russian government-linked companies from being traded on U.S. stock exchanges. It also extends a law that puts penalties on people involved in Iran's energy and weapons activities through 2031, and it lets early childhood educators who work with children under age 6 take the same tax deduction for classroom expenses that other teachers can.

Explain what is at stake in this bill.
I only agree with 2/3 of this bill. It should be 3 separate bills. How about we leave Iran alone? We haven't poked that bear enough already to know that it's teeth are bigger than our face?
Washington 101! When in doubt, mix everything together so people have to vote for it.
Yes, I really don’t see how the three things here have anything to do with each other. It’s shady to write it this way. Feels like this sort of thing shouldn’t be allowed.
Why is the name not describing this but something other? Is there other things in the bill
A perfect example of why this tech is necessary. Congress completely subbed out the original bill text and name for this Lindsey Graham sanction bill, yet never updated what the bill was actually meant for. you can see all the changes that were made here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/5334/all-actions The bill used to deal with education funding.
These should be separate bills.
It originally was a education only bill! Then the senate stripped the bill and made it a sanctions bill after Lindsey Graham died!
Because teachers Should not have to supply their own classrooms with materials our tax dollars should be doing that
Again a hodgepodge of different issues that shouldn’t even be placed together
