Make the Migrant Protection Protocols Mandatory Act of 2025

This bill requires the Department of Justice to send certain non-U.S. citizens back to neighboring countries while their applications to enter the United States are being processed. This applies to people who arrived by land from countries that border the U.S. and are not clearly entitled to enter. Currently, the Department of Justice can choose whether to detain these individuals in the U.S. or send them back to the neighboring country while their applications are pending, but this bill would make sending them back mandatory.
