Expanding Whistleblower Protections for Contractors Act of 2026

This bill adds new protections for employees who work for companies or organizations that have contracts or grants with the federal government. Right now, these employees are protected from being fired, demoted, or punished for reporting wrongdoing related to federal contracts or funds. This bill would also protect them if they refuse to follow an order that would require them to break the law, and it extends these protections to intelligence community members and state, local, and tribal government employees. The bill also says that these protections cannot be signed away in advance through workplace agreements, and it prohibits government officials from asking contractors to punish protected employees.
