Wildfire Recovery Act

This bill changes how the federal government helps pay for fighting wildfires through FEMA's Fire Management Assistance Grant program. Right now, the federal government pays exactly 75% of the costs, but this bill makes that the minimum and allows the President to increase that share when fires are especially costly for state or local governments. The bill also fixes a rule that currently stops state and local governments from getting reimbursed when they move their own firefighting equipment and crews into high-risk areas within their own state before a fire is officially declared.
