Auto Theft Prevention Act

This bill creates a grant program to help fight car theft and the trafficking of stolen cars. The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services in the Department of Justice would give these grants to state and local police departments to combat auto theft and stolen vehicle trafficking. The bill also lets money from the existing Community Oriented Policing Services grant program be used to fight car thefts and stolen car trafficking.
