FARM SAFE Act

This bill requires the Department of Agriculture to keep running its disaster assistance programs for farmers even during government shutdowns. It says that USDA employees who work on these disaster programs must be treated as essential workers who have to keep working when the government shuts down. These employees also cannot be laid off during budget cuts.
