New York-New Jersey Watershed Protection Act of 2025

This bill creates programs to help restore and protect the waterways and surrounding land in the New York-New Jersey area, including the harbor and connected waters. It sets up a program through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to coordinate protection efforts among different government agencies and conservation partners, and it creates a grant program that gives matching funds to certain groups working on restoration projects. The federal government cannot keep ownership of any land it buys under this bill, except briefly while transferring it to grant recipients. The bill would expire on October 1, 2031.
