MATCH Act of 2025

This bill changes a USDA program that helps state, local, and tribal governments protect people and property from natural disasters like floods, fires, and storms that damage watersheds. Right now, these governments need to have an agreement with USDA before spending money on emergency protection projects. Under this bill, they could start spending money on certain approved emergency actions before the agreement is finalized, and those early costs would count toward their required share of the project's total cost. USDA would be required to create a list of the specific emergency actions that qualify and set up a process at the state level for requesting additional ones.
