Head Start Shutdown Protection Act of 2025

This bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services to pay back states, local governments, or school districts that use their own money to keep Head Start programs running during government shutdowns. Head Start and Early Head Start are programs that provide early childhood education and development services to low-income children, including educational, health, nutritional, and social services to help prepare children for school. When the federal government shuts down, funding for these programs can be interrupted, so this bill would ensure that local entities that step in to continue the programs get reimbursed.
