Country of Origin Labeling Enforcement Act of 2025

This bill requires stores to tell customers which country their beef comes from. Currently, stores must already label the origin of foods like lamb, chicken, fish, and fresh produce, but beef is not included. The bill adds beef to this list. For beef to be labeled as from the United States, the animal must have been born, raised, and killed in the U.S. Stores that don't follow these rules can be fined $5,000 for each pound of beef that isn't properly labeled, which is higher than the current maximum fine of $1,000 for labeling violations.
