Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act

This bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to take custody of non-U.S. citizens who are arrested for, charged with, convicted of, or admit to assaulting a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or other first responder. The bill also requires the Department of Homeland Security to take custody of certain other non-U.S. citizens who have committed crimes. Currently, the Department of Justice handles this responsibility.
