SANE Act of 2025

This bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to have at least one sexual assault nurse examiner or qualified health care provider at each of its hospitals and urgent care facilities. After examining someone for sexual assault, VA health care providers must verbally refer that person to mental health services either at a VA hospital or through a non-VA provider if the wait time at the VA hospital is more than 30 days. The VA must make sure these new duties don't reduce or harm the other patient care responsibilities of its employees.
