BRAVE Act of 2025

The BRAVE Act of 2025 changes how the Department of Veterans Affairs provides mental health services to veterans. The bill lets the VA temporarily hire mental health counselors even if they don't have all required licenses yet, extends a suicide prevention grant program with higher funding, and requires the VA to check for barriers that prevent veterans from getting help at Vet Centers. The VA must also survey women veterans about mental health services, offer annual mental health consultations to veterans getting disability payments for mental health conditions, and create a pilot program for mental health residential treatment for veterans with spinal cord injuries.
