AIM Act

This bill removes a number of rules that currently limit what the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) can do when enforcing federal gun laws. For example, it would allow the ATF to centralize gun dealer records, keep background check records longer than 24 hours, conduct more compliance inspections of gun dealers each year, and make wider use of firearms tracing data. The bill also makes it easier for the ATF to take away or deny a gun dealer's license by requiring only that a dealer "knowingly" broke the law, instead of "willfully" broke it, and changes how courts review those decisions by giving more weight to the ATF's determination.
