PRECISE Act

This bill updates several Department of Agriculture programs to support something called "precision agriculture," which means using technology and data to be more exact about things like how much water, fertilizer, seed, or feed is used in farming and livestock production, with the goal of reducing waste and protecting the environment. It changes rules for certain conservation and loan programs so that farmers can get help paying for or adopting these precision agriculture tools and practices. The bill also expands a loan program for organizations that invest in rural areas so those loans can now be used for precision agriculture. Finally, it requires the Department of Agriculture to encourage the use of outside experts when helping farmers with soil health planning, including plans involving cover crops, precision agriculture, and nutrient management.
