American Water Stewardship Act

This bill renews funding through 2031 for several Environmental Protection Agency programs that protect and restore water quality in places like the Great Lakes, Long Island Sound, the Columbia River Basin, and coastal areas with beaches. It also makes changes to some of these programs, such as adding the Mississippi Sound as an important estuary that can receive federal support and allowing beach water quality grants to be used to find specific sources of contamination. The bill blocks funding from going to organizations connected to certain foreign countries that are considered a concern. It also requires the Government Accountability Office to review and report on how well certain EPA water programs are working.
