Recreational Drone Empowerment Act

This bill would allow hobbyist drone pilots to fly in more types of airspace than they currently can. Right now, recreational drones are mostly limited to certain controlled airspaces near airports and open uncontrolled airspace, and the FAA restricts where hobby drones can fly in other areas. This bill would give the FAA the authority to let recreational drone pilots fly in additional sections of controlled airspace, specifically areas that sit above uncontrolled airspace or connect to other controlled airspace zones near airports.
