Keeping All Students Safe Act

This bill stops schools and Head Start programs that get federal money from locking students alone in rooms they cannot leave, a practice called seclusion. It also bans certain types of physical restraints, like those that restrict breathing, and only allows physical restraint when a student is in immediate danger of seriously hurting themselves or someone else. Schools must have trained staff and follow specific steps after any incident involving restraint. If a school breaks these rules, students can take legal action, the school could lose federal funding, and states are required to put these policies in place, with grants available to help them do so.
