Repealing the IMD Exclusion Act

This bill changes Medicaid rules for mental health facilities called institutions for mental diseases (IMDs). Currently, Medicaid usually won't pay for services at these facilities if they have more than 16 beds and the patient is under 65 years old. The bill removes the age limit and bed limit, allowing any mental health facility to qualify for Medicaid payment as long as it mainly treats people with mental illness and meets approved standards for mental health or substance use programs.
