Expression of Interest Sensibility Act

This bill changes how the Bureau of Land Management charges fees when people want to nominate federal land for oil and gas leasing. Currently, people must pay a fee when they submit their request, even if the land is never offered for sale. Under this bill, fees would only be charged if the land is actually offered for sale - either to the winning bidder or to the original requester if no one bids. The bill also requires these requests to stay active for at least five years unless the land gets offered for sale.
