School MEALS Act of 2025

This bill aims to make it easier for schools to automatically sign up kids for free school meals without requiring their families to fill out applications, by using information from other programs like food assistance (SNAP). It provides money and support to help states and tribal organizations improve these automatic sign-up systems, including for children in Native American food assistance programs. The bill also gives schools in high-poverty areas more time to collect the data they need to offer free meals to all their students. Additionally, states that aren't doing a good enough job automatically enrolling eligible kids would have three years to fix the problem.
