Heartbeat Protection Act of 2025

This bill would make it a federal crime for doctors to perform abortions without first checking for a fetal heartbeat and telling the pregnant woman the results, or to perform an abortion after detecting a heartbeat. Doctors who break this law could face fines and up to five years in prison. The bill includes exceptions when the pregnancy threatens the mother's physical life or resulted from rape or incest. Women who have abortions would not face criminal charges under this law.
