Immediate Access for the Terminally Ill Act

This bill would let people receiving Social Security disability benefits who have been diagnosed with certain terminal illnesses start getting their payments right away instead of waiting the usual five months. To get this faster access, they would have to accept a 7% cut in their monthly payment, and their condition must have no known cure with a life expectancy of five years or less. The bill also says that people collecting unemployment benefits cannot receive Social Security disability benefits at the same time. Additionally, it would allow the Social Security Administration to collect less than the full monthly payment from people who were overpaid, as long as it collects at least 10% of their monthly benefit.
