CBO Show Your Work Act

This bill requires the Congressional Budget Office to share with Congress and the public all the models and methods it uses to estimate how much legislation will cost and what effects it might have. When the Congressional Budget Office creates a cost estimate for a bill, it must provide enough detail about its data, computer programs, models, and assumptions so that people outside the office can check the work themselves. For data that cannot be shared publicly, the Congressional Budget Office must provide a list of what information was used, basic statistics about that information, explain which law prevents sharing it, and give contact information for who has access to the full data.
