PROTECTS Act of 2025

This bill stops federal money from being used to pay for certain medical procedures that change a person's body to match a different gender for anyone under 18 years old. The ban covers surgeries, medications, and implants listed in the bill that are meant to change someone's body from their biological sex. The bill allows exceptions for procedures that treat genetic conditions or prevent death or serious harm to major body functions, but only when a parent or guardian agrees and a doctor performs the procedure.
