Tim’s Act

This bill increases pay for federal wildland firefighters who work for the Agriculture Department, Interior Department, or tribal governments. It raises their minimum basic pay rates by different percentages depending on their job level, with smaller increases for higher-level positions. The bill also creates extra pay for firefighters who respond to long fire incidents and are sent away from their normal work locations. It provides new benefits including paid rest leave, retirement credit for previous service, housing money, and tuition help, plus programs to support firefighters' mental and physical health and assist families of firefighters who are badly hurt or killed on the job.
