America First Act

This bill changes who can receive federal benefits based on immigration status. It would stop certain immigrants, including asylum seekers and people with temporary protection, from getting benefits like Medicaid, food stamps, housing help, and student aid. The bill also makes the increased child tax credit permanent but prevents the same groups of immigrants from receiving tax credits. Areas that don't help with immigration enforcement would lose half their federal education funding each year. The bill requires people to prove their immigration status before getting certain benefits and stops some charitable organizations from using federal money to help certain immigrants.
