Stop Illegal Reentry Act

This bill increases the jail time for people who are not U.S. citizens and illegally come back to the United States after being removed or denied entry. Under current law, someone who illegally reenters can be fined or jailed for up to two years, but this bill would increase that to up to five years. People who have been removed three or more times would face up to 10 years in jail. Those who were convicted of serious crimes before being removed would face between 5 and 20 years in prison, whereas current law has no minimum jail time for this situation.
