FIRE Act of 2025

This bill creates programs within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to improve wildfire forecasting and detection. NOAA would set up weather research testbeds working with industry and academic partners, which are spaces where researchers and forecasters work together to integrate new observation systems into models and improve weather products. The bill also directs NOAA to establish a program to develop and extend accurate wildfire forecasts and warnings to reduce injury, loss of life, and property damage by developing tools like satellite detection, fuel moisture assessments, and atmosphere and fire modeling.
