Rural Health Care Access Act of 2025

This bill changes the rules for hospitals that want to become "critical access hospitals" under Medicare. Right now, hospitals must meet distance requirements - they have to be more than 35 miles from another hospital, or 15 miles in mountains or areas with only back roads, unless they were already certified before 2006. This bill removes those distance and certification requirements, making it easier for hospitals to qualify for the special Medicare payments that critical access hospitals receive.
