Child Suicide Prevention Act

This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to create grant programs and a website aimed at reducing suicide rates among people under age 26. The grants would go to states, tribes, hospitals, and other organizations to train health care providers on suicide prevention strategies, including safe storage of firearms and related laws. Some grant money could also be used to provide secure gun storage or safety devices to homes where a young person is at risk of suicide. Additionally, grants would help medical schools add suicide prevention training to their programs, and HHS would be required to build a website with suicide prevention information for young people, families, and health care providers.
