Voter Empowerment Act of 2026

This bill makes several changes to how people register to vote and cast their ballots. It requires states to offer online voter registration, automatic voter registration, same-day registration, and registration for people under 18, while also making it harder to remove people from voter rolls. It requires states to allow early voting, voting by mail, the use of ballot drop boxes, and absentee voting for people with disabilities. The bill also says that people convicted of crimes can vote in federal elections unless they are currently serving a felony sentence, and it permanently continues the Election Assistance Commission, which would provide grants to states to carry out these changes.
