Precision Brain Health Research Act of 2026

This bill adds to an existing Veterans Affairs program focused on mental health by requiring it to also study brain conditions like dementia and injuries from repeated exposure to low-level blasts. The VA would need to share data with the Department of Defense and hire the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to help confirm biological markers for brain and mental health conditions in veterans. The VA would also have to regularly report to Congress on its research progress and suggest ways to improve the program. The program would be approved to continue through the year 2030.
