MAKERS Act

This bill requires the National Science Foundation to give competitive grants to colleges and universities for research about makerspaces. Makerspaces are community spaces that give people tools, technology, and knowledge to learn and start businesses. The grant money can be used to study how well makerspaces help students and communities learn science, technology, engineering, and math. When giving out grants, the National Science Foundation must prioritize community colleges, schools that serve minorities, and schools that partner with job training organizations or nonprofit makerspaces.
