BIS Licensing Efficiency Act of 2026

This bill sets deadlines for the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), a part of the Department of Commerce, to decide whether to approve applications for export licenses. BIS would have 90 days to make a decision and inform the applicant, and if no decision is made within 120 days, BIS must explain the delay and ask for any additional information it needs. The bill also requires BIS to send reports every three months to certain congressional committees about how it is handling license applications, and it requires the Government Accountability Office to review and report on how BIS processes these applications.
