Pre-Payment Fraud Prevention and Treasury Data Access Act

This bill tries to stop the federal government from making wrong payments, like sending money to the wrong person or paying the wrong amount. It requires the Department of the Treasury to set up checks that agencies must complete before any payment goes out, including making sure the person being paid is eligible and that their bank account information is correct. The bill also strengthens a system called "Do Not Pay," which gives agencies access to shared data to help verify who should and shouldn't receive government money, and it sets rules to protect that data from being misused. Government agencies and state and local governments running federally funded programs must check payees against this system before making payments, and first-time recipients of federal awards of $50,000 or more must meet additional reporting requirements.
