Freedom to Cooperate Act

This bill says that states cannot stop their workers or other government groups from working with federal immigration officers or asking about someone's immigration status. Federal immigration officials can ask local jails to hold someone if they think that person might be in the country illegally and was arrested for any crime or traffic violation. The bill also protects state and local governments from being sued if they hold a non-U.S. citizen because federal immigration officials asked them to.
