RULES Act

This bill would require people who want to ask for asylum in the United States to come to an official border crossing point and apply there. People caught in the U.S. without legal permission to be here could not apply for asylum. The bill would also stop people from being released into the U.S. while waiting for their asylum case to be decided. If someone's asylum request is denied, they would not be allowed to apply again in the future, which is different from current law that lets people reapply in special situations.
